Life has a way of throwing us all off-balance occasionally. Many times, we are able to regain balance again quickly. However, there are occasions in which additional time, effort and support is necessary. It is said that during these times of challenge, opportunity exists for enduring personal growth. Though few (if any) would intentionally choose to experience difficulty, it is quite possible to come out on the other side with a deeper understanding of ourselves, feeling stronger and more confident in our daily lives.
My goal as a therapist is to partner with you, exactly where you are in your journey. Whether you are trying to make sense of or heal from a difficult loss or transition, looking for a way to add more balance or meaning to your life, or gain insight into yourself or your relationships, we will work together to help you achieve your goals.
My approach is authentic, warm, empathic, and holistic. I believe we all possess internal reserves of strength to transcend life’s challenges, though at times we need a little extra kindness and support to tap into it. Other times we may need a gentle nudge to make the choices that can elevate us to become our best selves. Often, interjecting some humor is helpful to add some levity and keep things in perspective.
In addition to individual counseling, I also provide specialized therapy for children, adolescents and families. As a former school social worker, I have worked extensively with children, adolescents and their families in the following areas: ADD/ADHD, anger management, anxiety, behavior and discipline issues, loss (grief/divorce), self-esteem and social skills.
As a trainer for the 123 Magic parenting method, I have worked with dozens of families regarding parenting, discipline, and communication. Through my work as a Guardian Ad Litem for the Lake County, IN court system, I have helped families deal with various difficulties such as custody and visitation issues.

Making the decision to see a therapist can be stressful in and of itself, but ultimately it can become one of the most rewarding. Please contact me at 708-429-6999, Ext. 501 with any questions or for a brief phone consultation. Best wishes to you on your personal journey.
